About MinneHONK!

In the tradition of the HONK! festival of activist street bands and other HONK! festivals that take place around the world, members of the activist street band Brass Solidarity held the the first MinneHONK! festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May Day weekend in 2025. This unamplified brass band and music festival uplifts and helps prepare for the Rise and Remember festivities that take place later in May.

Working within a framework of a plurality of festivals occurring simultaneously, a core goal of MinneHONK! is a strengthening of the community and cultural fabric at the grassroots level, encouraging people to get out and share music, conversations, and time in community.

MinneHONK! has been made possible through funding and support from Brass Solidarity, Folk Will Save Us1, Rise and Remember, and community-based organizing efforts.
